Phoenician juniper can be classed as a shrub or small tree reaching up to 8 meters in height. It’s most commonly known for it’s berries which are collected in Summer and can be eaten fresh.
Juniper berries can be used as a spice in cooking and have been shown to improve the digestibility of foods like cabbage. The characteristic taste of gin comes from juniper berries.
